DAY 1

1 Day Machu Picchu Small Group Tour

To ensure a comfortable and safe experience, we recommend arriving in Cusco a few days before your scheduled tour to acclimatize. We suggest staying in a hotel near the center of Cusco with easy access to transportation routes. If you stay in Sacred Valley, such as Urubamba or Ollantaytambo, please note that the pick-up time will be 2 hours later than usual due to the train station’s location in Ollantaytambo.

The pick-up time from Cusco is approximately 4:30 am, but this may vary depending on the final train schedule. The entry time to Machu Picchu is also subject to the time of booking, so we recommend booking the earliest possible time to have the best train schedules and entry times. If you stay closer to Ollantaytambo, the pick-up time will be around 6 to 7 am.

Once you are picked up from your hotel in Cusco, we will take you to the train station in Ollantaytambo, where you will board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes town). The train ride takes approximately 1.5 hours, passing through beautiful landscapes of the high Andes and the Cloud Forest. Upon arrival at the final train station, your tour guide will meet you and take you to the bus station for a 30-minute ride to Machu Picchu.

You will arrive at the main gate of Machu Picchu around 10:00 am. Please bring your entry tickets and original passports to present at the gate before exploring Machu Picchu with your Peru Hikers expert guide. Your tour guide will show you the most important buildings, including the viewpoints, guard house, terraces, temples, palaces, and more. After the guided tour, you can take some time to relax and enjoy the fantastic views.

After the Machu Picchu tour, you will board the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to explore the town. You can visit the local market, take short walks in the cloud forest, or even visit the hot springs if time allows. Aguas Calientes is a small town, and you can easily walk from one corner to the other in just 10 minutes.

In the afternoon, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our team will be waiting for you to transfer you by bus back to Cusco. The expected arrival time is around 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Thank you for choosing us for your Machu Picchu adventure.
