Our journey on the first day of the two-day Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu starts early in the morning, as we depart from Cusco and make our way towards the Sacred Valley. The anticipation builds as we head towards Ollantaytambo, a town rich in Incan history and the perfect prelude to our hike. Here, we catch a train that offers stunning views of the Urubamba River, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.
Chachabamba:
Upon arriving at Km 104, our trailhead, the excitement peaks. We will start our hike by crossing a bridge to the Chachabamba site, where we will explore ancient ruins that served as a religious and administrative center for the Incas. This site, set against a backdrop of lush greenery and towering mountains, offers a glimpse into the past lives of those who walked these paths centuries ago.
Wiñay Wayna:

On the second day of our two-day Short Inca Trail hike, we will embark on an early morning journey from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, the highlight of our adventure. The day starts before dawn, allowing us to catch one of the first buses up the winding road to the gates of the ancient city. This ensures we arrive in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Machu Picchu, a moment that symbolizes the awakening of the Inca spirit.
Machu Picchu Guided Tour:
Once at Machu Picchu, we will dive into a comprehensive two-hour guided tour. Our expert guides will lead us through the heart of the citadel, sharing stories and insights that bring the stone structures to life. We will explore key areas such as the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (Intihuatana), the Royal Quarters, and the Temple of the Three Windows. Huayna Picchu is the mountain that stands next to Machu Picchu. It is a 45-minute hike to the top. Going back down is quite steep if you are scared of heights. This is done without your tour guide after you tour Machu Picchu. The cost is $75 per person. Due to popularity, arrangements must be made at least one month in advance. Please understand that weather is out of our control.
