Humantay Lake is between Salkantay Peak and Humantay Mountain, roughly 120 kilometers from Cusco. It sits approximately 4,200 meters (13,800 feet) above sea level, making it the perfect destination for a day trip into the mountains to connect with nature. The nearest town to the lake is Soraypampa, where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our chef and take a quick break before starting your climb. Once you descend from the slope, lunch will be served in Soraypampa.

Humantay Lake Full Day

To make the most of your day at Humantay Lake, start early in the morning by departing from Cusco. Arrange transportation to Mollepata, which is the starting point for the trek to the lake. The journey takes approximately 3 hours. Before beginning your trek, enjoy a delicious quick breakfast prepared by our chef in Mollepata.
The trek from Soraypampa to Humantay Lake usually takes around 2 to 2.5 hours, covering a distance of about 4 km/2.4 miles. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. After a moderately challenging hike, you’ll arrive at the breathtaking Humantay Lake. Take some time to rest and soak in the stunning beauty of the turquoise-colored lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and take memorable photos.
Explore the surroundings by taking a leisurely walk around the lake. You can find several viewpoints that offer different perspectives of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Enjoy the serenity of nature and take in the fresh mountain air.
Afterward, hike back for 1 hour to our lunch place at Soraypampa. Our chefs will prepare a variety of Peruvian dishes in a buffet style. Later, take our Peru Hikers private van back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 6:00 pm.

Full day humantay tour

At approximately 4:30 am, we will collect you from your Cusco hotel and transport you in our comfortable vans for 3 hours to Soraypampa. Here, you will be treated to a delicious breakfast while admiring the stunning views of the Salkantay and Humantay mountains. Following breakfast, prepared by our expert trekking chefs, you will embark on a 2-hour hike up to Humantay Lake (4,200 m – 13,779 ft), located at the base of a captivating mountain with the same name. If desired, you can rent horses from locals. Upon reaching the lake, you will have ample time to explore the surroundings and marvel at the breathtaking views of nature. Take in the local flora, native birds, and magnificent mountain peaks. Afterward, you will hike back for 1 hour to our lunch spot in Soraypampa. Our chefs will prepare a variety of delectable Peruvian dishes in a buffet-style format. Finally, we will transport you back to your Cusco hotel in our private van, arriving around 6:00 pm.
