The vision for Peru Hikers comes from the ground up. Daniel Mayta, our founder, was born in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. He is a proud Quechua guide who felt a profound spiritual bond with Pachamama (Mother Earth) long before he entered tourism. His journey began humbly, working as a porter on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. He witnessed firsthand the difficult conditions faced by trekking teams and was motivated to create lasting change.
While working, Daniel studied tourism in Cusco, becoming a licensed guide at 21. With over 15 years of experience, he founded Peru Hikers to offer the culturally immersive and responsible travel he knew was possible.
