DAY 1
Cusco – Tinki – Upis
Your adventure begins with an early departure from Cusco. We travel by private transport toward the Vilcanota mountain range. The scenic drive leads us to the community of Tinki. Here we enjoy a delicious breakfast. We then begin our Ausangate trek from the base of the mighty sacred Apu Ausangate. The path takes us through charming local villages. Our destination is the small settlement of Upis. You will have a chance to relax in the local Upis hot springs. Your campsite will be ready upon arrival. Enjoy the mountain backdrop as the sun sets. DAY 2
Upis – Pucaqocha
We wake you with hot drinks served in your tent. A nutritious breakfast will prepare you for the day. We start our Andean trekking adventure with a gradual ascent. We will climb towards the Arapa pass at 4,850 meters. Afterwards, we descend towards our lunch spot. You will see several stunning, colorful lagoons along the way. After lunch, our hike continues to Lake Pukaqocha. This is a perfect place for a break. We will continue spotting alpacas and llamas tended by local shepherds. DAY 3
Pucacocha – Ananta
Today promises a beautiful sunrise with amazing panoramic views. This part of the Ausangate Trek Rainbow Mountain is also shorter. We begin with hot drinks and a delicious breakfast. Then we start the ascent to the Pucaqocha pass hike. The reward from the top is breathtaking 360° views. It is one of the most incredible landscapes in the world. DAY 4
Ananta – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco
Our goal today is an early start. We leave camp at 5 a.m. to experience Rainbow Mountain in solitude. After a hot breakfast, we ascend toward the Ananta pass. From here, you see the beautiful mountain in the distance. This is the final hiking to Vinicunca. Your guide will explain this amazing work of nature. You will learn how minerals create the stunning colors. This type of formation is incredibly rare worldwide. Camping Equipment: Dining and kitchen tents, tables, chairs, and cooking equipment (all carried by the horses).
1 duffle bag: There, you can carry your personal belongings (including sleeping bag) up to a maximum weight of 6 kg / 14 lbs.
All duffel bags will be carried by your porters or horses and will only be available at your campsite every day (morning and evening). Any items that are necessary during the hike should be packed in your backpack.
Medical Kit: All PMA TRIPSguides have received first aid training. Your tour guide will always have a first aid kit for basic medical situations (traveler’s diarrhea, altitude sickness, cuts, scrapes, etc.) as well as oxygen. If necessary, we will evacuate you from the road as quickly as possible and ensure that you arrive at a clinic for treatment.
Food
Meals: PMA TRIPSchefs cook the best dishes in the middle of the mountain. We respect all food restrictions (vegetarian, vegan or special menus are available at no additional cost), so be sure to add the ones you have on your booking form and let your guide know at your briefing. Food is typically served family style.
Wake up tea: Every morning at the camp, you will wake up to a cup of hot drink! Our staff will bring the tea to your store.
Tea time daily: Happy hour for tea and snacks! Every evening before dinner, our chefs will provide you with popcorn, hot chocolate, cookies, teas, coffee, hot water, etc. After a long day of hiking, you won’t have to wait until dinner to relax.
Snacks on the trail daily: Every morning we’ll give you your snack to enjoy it during the walk; our tour leader will provide you a Cloth bag with local fruits, biscuits, chocolate, caramels, etc. We will give this snack to you at the beginning of each day in your cloth bag.
Water: From your first lunch to your last breakfast, PMA TRIPSwill provide all the water you need. This water is boiled, filtered, and then cooled before distributing. You must bring personal water bottles and / or camel back. We recommend bringing around 2 liters. You will be able to refill your water at every meal.
Products for hygiene: You will be provided with a small towel before each meal to clean your hands.

Transport:
Day 1: You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and travel by private transport to Upis, the starting point of the Ausangate peru trek 2 days.
Day 2: Once you complete the tour, we will take you back to the door of your hotel in Cusco.
Cargo Mules
The muleteers are responsible for carrying your luggage on days 1 and 2.
The pack mules carry all the camping equipment and your personal travel bag (7 kgs / 15 lbs).
