Day 1: Cusco – Tinki – Upis
Your Ausangate Rainbow Mountain Trek begins early. We will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco between 4:30 AM and 5:00 AM. Our private van then travels for three hours. We arrive at Tinki (12,467 ft. / 3,800 masl), a charming small village. Here, we enjoy a delicious breakfast with hot drinks like coffee, coca tea, and hot chocolate. You will also find pancakes, omelets, bread, and eggs available. After breakfast, we begin our walk.
We hike for about four hours to reach our first campsite, Upis (14,435 ft. / 4,400 masl). Along the way, admire the magnificent Ausangate snow-capped mountain. This is the highest peak in the Cusco Region. Upon arrival at Upis, you can relax in the natural Upis hot springs. These offer spectacular views of Apu Ausangate. After enjoying the hot springs, our chef and horseman prepare a delicious dinner. Comfortable tents and air mattresses await you. Day 2: Upis – Pukaqocha Lake – Hananta Campsite
After our delicious breakfast, we continue our Ausangate trek. The path includes a slight ascent for approximately two hours. We will reach the Arapa pass (15,908 ft. / 4,850m). Following this, we head downhill to our lunch spot. This part of the trekking in Peru offers magical views of the mighty Ausangate mountain (20,900 ft. / 6,372m). You will also observe three beautiful lakes: Pukaqocha, HatunPukaqocha, and Qomerqocha. These lakes display stunning shades of red, green, and turquoise. Keep an eye out for local Andean wildlife, including alpacas, vizcachas, and llamas.
After lunch, our Peruvian Andes hiking continues. We embark on a long, slow ascent to our campsite in Hananta (15,551 ft. / 4,740m). This stretch provides some of the best panoramic views of the snow-covered Ausangate. It’s a truly scenic hike Peru. After a fulfilling day of trekking near Cusco, we recharge with a varied and delicious dinner. Hot drinks are available to warm you. This guided Ausangate trek ensures you are well cared for.

Day 3: Hananta Campsite – Rainbow Mountain
Today, we rise early to continue our adventure towards the famous Rainbow Mountain. It is also known as Vinicunca. Breakfast is served very early. Our goal is to be among the first to arrive at Rainbow Mountain , as many visitors come from Cusco. We begin with an ascent of approximately one hour to the pass (16,400 ft. / 5,000m). From this vantage point, the landscape is truly dreamlike.
From Hananta, reaching Rainbow Mountain takes about three hours. Once at Rainbow Mountain (16,404 ft. / 5,100m), your guide will explain this amazing natural artwork. This unique formation is visible in only two places globally: Peru and China. Learn about its formation process and the natural minerals that create its colorful mountains Peru. After enjoying this surreal landscape, we descend to our lunch spot. A succulent and varied lunch awaits, helping us regain energy. Our private transport will then take you back to Cusco. We typically arrive in Cusco around 6:00 PM. This marks the end of your unforgettable Ausangate Rainbow Mountain Trek.

Pre-departure briefing: Before your departure to Ausangate peru trek 2 days, you will meet your guide at your hotel where you are staying, for an orientation before your trek. At this time, it is where we will provide you with the duffel bags for your items that our horses will carry. The meeting takes place in the evening before the trip begins.

Camping Equipment: Dining and kitchen tents, tables, chairs, and cooking equipment (all carried by the horses).
1 duffle bag: There, you can carry your personal belongings (including sleeping bag) up to a maximum weight of 6 kg / 14 lbs.
All duffel bags will be carried by your porters or horses and will only be available at your campsite every day (morning and evening). Any items that are necessary during the hike should be packed in your backpack.
Medical Kit: All PMA TRIPSguides have received first aid training. Your tour guide will always have a first aid kit for basic medical situations (traveler’s diarrhea, altitude sickness, cuts, scrapes, etc.) as well as oxygen. If necessary, we will evacuate you from the road as quickly as possible and ensure that you arrive at a clinic for treatment.
Food
Meals: PMA TRIPSchefs cook the best dishes in the middle of the mountain. We respect all food restrictions (vegetarian, vegan or special menus are available at no additional cost), so be sure to add the ones you have on your booking form and let your guide know at your briefing. Food is typically served family style.
Wake up tea: Every morning at the camp, you will wake up to a cup of hot drink! Our staff will bring the tea to your store.
Tea time daily: Happy hour for tea and snacks! Every evening before dinner, our chefs will provide you with popcorn, hot chocolate, cookies, teas, coffee, hot water, etc. After a long day of hiking, you won’t have to wait until dinner to relax.
Snacks on the trail daily: Every morning we’ll give you your snack to enjoy it during the walk; our tour leader will provide you a Cloth bag with local fruits, biscuits, chocolate, caramels, etc. We will give this snack to you at the beginning of each day in your cloth bag.
Water: From your first lunch to your last breakfast, PMA TRIPSwill provide all the water you need. This water is boiled, filtered, and then cooled before distributing. You must bring personal water bottles and / or camel back. We recommend bringing around 2 liters. You will be able to refill your water at every meal.
Products for hygiene: You will be provided with a small towel before each meal to clean your hands.

Transport:
Day 1: You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and travel by private transport to Upis, the starting point of the Ausangate peru trek 2 days.
Day 2: Once you complete the tour, we will take you back to the door of your hotel in Cusco.
Cargo Mules
The muleteers are responsible for carrying your luggage on days 1 and 2.
The pack mules carry all the camping equipment and your personal travel bag (7 kgs / 15 lbs).
