Founder of Peru Hikers: Daniel Mayta
Meet Daniel Mayta — Founder of Peru Hikers
Born in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Daniel Mayta is a proud Quechua guide and the visionary behind Peru Hikers, a company dedicated to authentic Peru adventures and sustainable tourism. From childhood, Daniel felt a profound spiritual bond with Pachamama (Mother Earth), shaped by the ancient wisdom and Inca traditions of his ancestors.
Daniel’s journey into tourism began humbly as a porter on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, where he witnessed the difficult conditions faced by porters, cooks, and guides. Motivated to create change, he worked tirelessly while studying tourism in Cusco, determined to transform the industry for both travelers and his community. At just 21, he became a licensed Machu Picchu guide, leading travelers through Peru’s iconic landscapes and hidden trails.
With over 15 years of experience in Peru trekking tours, Daniel founded Peru Hikers to offer culturally immersive and responsible travel experiences. His philosophy is simple yet profound: “We live in harmony with Pachamama; if you give, you get.”
